About Charlies Stores
Charlies is an independent, family-run retailer with 9 stores across Wales and the borders, as well as a fast-growing website. Stocking more than 77,000 products for home, garden and outdoor living, the company has grown considerably since the first store was opened 35 years ago but the passion and values it was founded on have remained the same… we only sell quality products that we would want to take home ourselves and work very hard to ensure that they are always the best value for money. The first Charlies store in Newtown, rural mid-Wales, was an army surplus store selling everything from carpets to clothing. Following that came a little Aberystwyth shop and then the Shrewsbury store. Our flagship store in Welshpool opened in 2001 on the site of a working farm and has a garden centre, country store and groundcare sales and workshop selling John Deere tractors. Following this came the big-box Charlies concept… Queensferry, Carmarthen and finally the big store in Aberystwyth. In 2018, our 108,000sq ft warehouse and distribution centre was built, as well as a brand new head office housing the buying, accounts, ecommerce and marketing teams.
