Charteris Wines is a Trans-Tasman venture from acclaimed winemaker & senior wine show judge PJ Charteris and his partner Chrissi (Christina Pattison). PJ would have to be one of Australia’s most gifted and well loved winemakers. It’s a deadly combination and well earned. Today he runs his tiny, remarkably high quality wine label from Central Otago and Hunter Valley & Charteris Wine Room. What sets him apart from a large number of winemakers is his ability to be able to craft wines of finesse and elegance while not trying to hide from the fruit weight and power naturally found in the wines of the region, as James Halliday has described. He is also a respected wine consultant, helping other producers fine tune their wines on both sides of the ditch. With over 30+ years winemaking and wine show judging, in both regional and capital wine shows PJ's commitment continues to date as the Chair of The Royal Adelaide Wine Show. NEW CHARTERIS WINE ROOM Charteris Wine Room is located in the heart of Pokolbin showcasing his Trans-Tasman artisan wines. Creating a warm and inviting space was paramount to PJ and his partner Chrissi (Christina Pattison) which opened their cellar door last December and it is must visit to those looking for small but mighty artisan wine producers.
