About Chef Jo - Culinary Services and Merchandise
Growing up... Chef Jo Soeung was born and raised in Baguio City, Philippines where she became well versed in the culinary styles of East Asian and Spanish influence cooking. At a young age she‘ve had an understanding of the impact preparing meals with love. She grew up learning how to cook, firsthand, from the best cook she know, her grandmother. Why did She become a Chef? A move to Seattle, Washington (which is her Dad’s last military post) in March 2006 exposed her to a world of new, fresh, international flavors common to the West Coast and the belief that cooking was truly her life’s calling. Chef Jo quickly made her mark in the hospitality culinary world through her work in some of the city’s most renowned restaurants and hotels. In January 2019, she had a work opportunity to move to Maui, Hawaii and work for a few months where she discovered the freshness of local ingredients and the availability of wonderful ocean harvests. All such an integral part of daily life. November 2019 she decided it was time to follow her dreams and turn her passion and purpose into a business. She left her corporate job and moved to Honolulu, Hawaii aka “Da Big Pineapple“. From there, Chef Jo’s Personal Chef Service was born.
