About ChemoMouthpiece
ChemoMouthpiece, LLC is an oncology supportive care company. The Chemo Mouthpiece® device is FDA 510(k) cleared for marketing in the US. The Chemo Mouthpiece® is an easy-to-use oral cryotherapy device intended to be used to cool the oral mucosa to reduce the incidence and severity of chemotherapy induced oral mucositis in adult patients. Oral mucositis is a painful and debilitating side effect of chemotherapy. Historically, oral cryotherapy was used for short half-life drugs only, the Chemo Mouthpiece® shifts that paradigm by studying its efficacy in multiple long half-life drugs, giving patients and healthcare providers a better choice!! The Chemo Mouthpiece® was developed by founder and CEO David Yoskowitz, a cancer survivor who personally experienced the painful effects of oral mucositis. During his treatment for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, David’s only option for managing oral mucositis was using ice chips to mitigate and reduce pain. However, this method was not only difficult to maintain in his mouth but also caused nausea and failed to cool the entire oral cavity effectively. Determined to find a better solution, David set out to develop a more efficient and comfortable alternative. As an engineer, David made it his mission to help cancer patients better manage oral mucositis during treatment. He designed the Chemo Mouthpiece®, a simple, effective, and easy-to-use device for use during chemotherapy infusion and at home. By efficiently cooling the oral cavity, the Chemo Mouthpiece® causes vasoconstriction of the blood vessels in the area; therefore, reducing the flow of chemotherapy drugs in the oral cavity. Reducing the flow of chemotherapy drugs to the oral cavity thereby reduces the risk of developing oral mucositis. Patients freeze the device at home and bring it with them to be used during their chemotherapy treatments. The Chemo Mouthpiece® provides a simple solution for an unmet need.
