About CHEXS

CHEXS is an award-winning youth and family support charity working across Waltham Cross and surrounding areas, where many families face significant challenges including poverty, school disengagement, and emotional wellbeing struggles. We support school-age children (8–16) referred to us by partner schools, providing a 30-week GROWTH programme of outdoor learning, creative projects, mentoring and leadership-building activities that help build confidence, self-esteem, and aspirations outside the classroom. Alongside this, our Family Support Service works directly with parents and carers to address the root causes of stress at home—offering one-to-one guidance, parenting workshops, practical help such as food and fuel support, and referrals to mental health or housing services. Last year, we supported over 500 young people and worked with more than 300 families through both intensive and light-touch support. We also bring families and young people together through intergenerational community projects that promote volunteering, shared achievement, and stronger local relationships. Our whole-family approach means we don’t just support individuals, we strengthen the foundations around them so they can reach their full potential.
