One day, just over 4 years ago, I was standing outside when the windchill was -35 degrees at 5:30am doing a live interview with a local TV reporter. I was preparing to open my new restaurant: Chick-fil-A Coliseum Blvd. In 2019 I welcomed guests from all over Greater Fort Wayne, each carrying their own unique stories. We seemed to explode with customers and sold lots of chicken. Everything was great, until the world-wide pandemic became a reality for our town in 2020, and every part of our business struggled. Like many other restaurants, we operated under a "new normal" for many months. Until one day, late in 2021, we were making progress again and actually won Chick-fil-A's highest award called Symbol of Success for increases sales by 20%. 2022 was filled with lingering pandemic related issues; supply-chain shortages, cost increases for both food and wages, inflation, severe labor shortages, etc. Finally, 2023 dawned with a new "growth mindset" among our restaurant leadership and we began to see record breaking sales every week. We continue to remind ourselves every day that we are here to serve our Fort Wayne community. We want to win their hearts and have a positive influence on all who comes in contact with Chick-fil-A.
