About Chico Muñoz · Architecture studio
Architecture studio founded in 2004 in Granada, directed by the architect Jose Luis Muñoz Muñoz and located since 2017 in Malaga. Since 2004 Jose Luis Muñoz has directed his own studio, carrying out building, urban planning and interior design projects, both alone and in collaboration with other architects. Since 2008 he has combined his profession with research. In 2010, he finished his research proficiency at the University of Granada with a thesis on the possibilities of unscheduled use of urban infrastructures, and that same year, he studied a Master's degree on "Urban Architecture and Culture" organized by the CCC of Barcelona and the University Polytechnic of Catalonia. His work covers numerous architectural typologies, from single-family and multi-family homes, facilities, office buildings, commercial premises to urban and public space projects. His projects are developed mainly throughout the Andalusian community. Among his most unique works are the "Centro de Biodiversidad Agrícola", the "Ruta de Miradores", the Gemalsa office building and the "Casa Escalable" in Loja (Granada), the "House of the Old and New" in Granada, the restoration of the Mill of Las Laerillas de Nigüelas, the “House of the Winds” in La Línea de la Concepción and “Three Houses in One. Rehabilitation of an 18th century house in the historic center of Malaga”. He has obtained several awards and recognitions throughout his university and professional career. Among these, the “Centro de Biodiversidad Agrícola de Loja” stands out as it was a finalist for the AREA2011 awards in London (Architectural Review Emerging Awards) and selected for the FAD 2012 AWARDS in Barcelona. In 2015 "La Casa de Los Vientos" is a finalist within its category in ARCHITIZER (New York) and in 2016 is a prize in the XIII BIENNIAL OF SPANISH ARCHITECTURE AND URBAN PLANNING 2015. In 2021 in the XV edition of the BIENNAL his work is selected "Three Houses in One".
