About Childcare by Design Coaching

Hi! I'm Jennifer Bulmer. I am the Coach and CEO of Childcare by Design Coaching Inc. I've worked in the field of Out of School Care since 1993 and have worked to design systems that give you the confidence, skill, and mindset to thrive no matter what challenges each day brings. I began my journey as a Day Camp Counselor, where I was given a group of 12 children, few resources and told to create quality experiences. This is where I learned the skill of how to do more with less. I continued to work as a Camp Counselor & Out of School Care Assistant while completing my education as a Recreation Therapist and an Early Childhood Educator - Level 3. I spent the next phase of my career doing every conceivable role in childcare – Educator, Director, fill in Cook, Bus Driver, toilet scrubber … if it needed to be done, I did it. My Out of School Care career was an education in itself, one where I learned valuable lessons on what worked, why people did things in a certain way, and what didn't work. I saw Educators and Directors were employing the same strategies day after day and accepting the lack of results as status quo for the industry. In 2010 I opened Juvenescence Child Development Centre and got to work implementing systems that would -by design - create my vision of a place for children and staff to thrive by providing an environment that nourished creativity, learning, failing forward and high-level skills, both in the classroom and in leadership. As a wife and mother of 2 teenage girls, owner of 4 locations of Juvenescence Child Development Centre and Child Care by Design Coaching, I know the time, dedication, and joy these different roles bring me, but also how challenging it can be to juggle many demands on your time. That’s one of the reasons I opened Childcare by Design Coaching – to help you and other leaders like you create the systems and boundaries that allow you to thrive in all the roles in your life!
