About Children's Cancer CoLab
With 400,000 children diagnosed with cancer worldwide each year, the Children’s Cancer CoLab aims to improve outcomes for our youngest cancer patients by accelerating collaborative research and innovation from the lab into the clinic. Our vision is for every child with cancer to survive and thrive. Formerly known as the Victorian Paediatric Cancer Consortium, we unite childhood cancer experts across disciplines and institutions to deliver transformative research that provides real-world benefits for children and adolescents with cancer, no matter where they live. Our five strategic impact programs ensure that we fund all aspects of childhood cancer research, from discovery research to interventions that help childhood cancer survivors live long and healthy lives. To determine our funding recipients, we use a competitive funding model, apply scientific rigour, adopt a review process involving two Scientific Advisory Committees comprising national and international cancer experts, and include an independent review from our Patient and Family Advisory Committee. Our funded initiatives have been made possible thanks to a combined $45 million, five-year funding commitment from the Children’s Cancer Foundation and the Victorian Government. To increase our impact, we are building a collaborative clinician-researcher community, and fostering partnerships with industry, funders, philanthropists, government, patients and families, and the public. As an independent charity led by a highly esteemed Board of Directors, Chaired by Prof Brendan Murphy AC, we work alongside our research and clinical partners: Hudson Institute of Medical Research, Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, Monash Children’s Hospital, Royal Children’s Hospital, The University of Melbourne, Monash University, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, and Walter and Eliza Hall Institute.
