About Children's Charter Elementary School
CCES is an open-enrollment, public, charter school serving K-5 students in the baton rouge area. Our mission is to "Empower students to be leaders in a community where everyone matters." How Did Children's Charter Get Started? In 1992, a group of parents, teachers, and business representative came together to explore how we could better educate children with diverse needs. CCS was formed through this consortium. During the 1997-1998 school year, CCS opened with 54 students in grades Kindergarten through Second. Each successive year thereafter, the school expanded adding an additional grade level with twenty additional students. Currently, the school serves approximately two hundred twenty students from K – 5th grades. In 2005, the school moved to its current location at 1143 North Street in Baton Rouge, LA.
