About Children's Mental Health Resource Center

After decades of collective experience working with children and families facing mental health challenges, our specialized team of mental health professionals, parents, and caregivers came together in 2022 as the nonprofit, Children’s Mental Health Resource Center (CMHRC). Our journey began with a shared passion for making a positive impact on the lives of children struggling with mood disorders, bipolar disorder, and its newly identified phenotype, dubbed “Fear of Harm”, recognizing the critical need for early identification and comprehensive support. The roots of CMHRC can be traced back to virtual support groups and advocacy work started by our founding members, who saw firsthand the gaps in mental health services and the stigma surrounding children's mental illness. As these efforts gained momentum, it became evident that a formal organization was needed to better address on a larger scale the challenges faced by children and families and the providers dedicated to helping them. From the beginning, our founders actively sought input from individuals with lived experiences and professionals from various disciplines to develop our core programs and services. CMHRC firmly believes in the power of collaboration and is committed to being administered by and for families living with mental illness; from our board, to staff, to volunteers we represent this lived experience.
