About Chmiel Architects

Chmiel Architects is a highly regarded, Award Winning Architectural Design firm located in Ottawa, Canada. Since 1996, our team of architectural and interiors professionals have developed large scale office campuses, office buildings on infill sites, interiors projects ranging from just a few thousand feet to several hundred thousand feet in area, building modernization projects, as well as condominium towers and custom single homes. This variety of experience provides us the opportunity to cross-pollenate solutions and approaches from one typology to another. We practice via a process of holistic, and critical thinking, which leads to an innovative process we feel are necessary ingredients for great design. Being located in the downtown core of the City has also taught us to be mindful of the intricacies of the urban fabric and of the energy that is created by the interactions of people and the architecture they encounter. We approach our work via an interdisciplinary process starting with with broad concepts which then informs more tangible things such as aesthetics and massing, materials and scale, function and circulation. We are also believers in collectively identifying project goals via broad brush concept development. This is an important first step for us and our clients alike. With goals identified, we are then able to strive for an end result which is ultimately a reflection of a particular client’s values and vision.
