About CHORA
CHORA is an architecture, urbanism and research office that was established in 1994 by Raoul Bunschoten. CHORA operates as an international cloud of research and practice clusters, including offices in London, Berlin and Beijing. CHORA's working method is to work collaboratively across the cloud rather than independently in each office, ensuring that the perfect team is assembled for each project, regardless of location. CHORA has a long-term commitment to developing new methods for architectural design and urban planning that help mitigate and adapt to the challenges of climate change. Recently CHORA has become a specialist in bringing urban design and energy planning together and has initiated innovative methods to coordinate ranges of energy efficient and renewable energy in cities and regions. CHORA is very active in the Smart Cities movement, and has initiated and participated in a number of Smart City related projects, including the eight-year-old large scale vision for the Taiwan Strait Smart Region. CHORA has always been very involved in education. It has taught architectural and urban design courses at a number of universities around Europe, including the Architectural Association, University of Applied Sciences in Dusseldorf, and currently The CASS School of Architecture at London Metropolitan University and the Technical University Berlin. CHORA has won a range of prizes on large scale urban projects including 1st Prize for Tempelhof urban ideas competition in Berlin, 1st Prize for the Kampen Gateway Competition in Kampen, The Netherlands; 2nd Prize for the New Suburb competition in Copenhagen; 3rd Prize for the Arhus harbour front competition, Arhus, Denmark; and the winning entry for the Schuytgraaf public space competition.
