About Churches for Streets of Hope

Southeast Baltimore County's only cold weather homeless shelter specifically for men. A coalition of local churches--from the many denominations and communities that define our area--provides warm food and shelter for up to 16 men from November to April. Our facility at Zion UCC (Essex) is open 6:00pm to 7:00am to house clients overnight. A small staff oversees the shelter with the help of our many volunteers from our member churches who provide meals and assist our clients in finding employment and housing. Our one-on-one approach to helping our community's homeless creates lasting relationships with our clients that build strong support networks of people beyond their stay at our shelter. Our goal is to mobilize area Christian churches and other volunteers to coordinate and collaborate resources, providing efficient and effective relief to the poor, distressed and underprivileged of the Southeast Baltimore County.
