About Ciocca Center for Principled Entrepreneurship
We educate, mentor, exhort, model, and support intentional Catholics in the creation of a virtuous, entrepreneurial society. We believe: 1. The key objective of business activity is serving the human person and the common good. Therefore, business is intrinsically person-centered. 2. Business is fundamentally other-directed and thus must create value for customers and society. 3. Business is a noble vocation that is for its practitioners a key part of their path to holiness – through our creativity in business we participate in God’s creative power. 4. The practice of virtue among all participants in a company contributes to its success. 5. Everyone in a company ought to "think like an owner," and ideally prepare to be or become one. 6. Entrepreneurship is not simply or only about starting a company, but as Michael Gerber, the “SME Guru” and author of “The E-Myth” says, the practice of mature entrepreneurial perspective – the guiding light of any successful business. 7. Catholic Social Teaching principles are a key mental model to guide the decision process of successful entrepreneurs. 8. The Market Based Management approach ensures that companies promote and retain an entrepreneurial perspective throughout their growth. 9. The economy and business are not a zero-sum game. Principled Entrepreneurs think from a perspective of abundance and do not engage in an “us-versus-them” mentality, because the solution to most problems is “both/and.” 10. Entrepreneurship is a key ingredient in a healthy and well-functioning society as it occupies the space between individuals and the state.
