About City of Birmingham Rockets Basketball Club
With our home based in central Birmingham at Nechells Wellbeing Centre, we aim to develop young people from our city to realise their full potential by providing coaching and mentoring expertise including developing social skills to enable positive decision making through sports, leadership and mentoring activities. With over 350 members , our player pathway includes an all encompassing provision of 14 teams including boys, girls, men, women and wheelchair teams at local, regional and national elite level. This impactful delivery provides between 60-70 hours of contact time per week with our club coaches. Our players dominate the West Midlands regional squads with numerous selections to the National Team Squads. Our 16-19 Further Education Offer consists of our Basketball Academy delivered in partnership with The 6th Form College Solihull ensuring students have the access to elite level basketball as student athletes under the supervision of our Club Academy Coach. Rockets community and schools programme is delivered across Birmingham and the region, removing participation barriers and taking the club into the heart of each community with over 750 young people a week taking part in our club community activities. Our camp programme enables us to deliver holiday camps across the school holidays culminating with our International Summer Camp delivered in partnership with NBA Legend, Hakeem 'The' Dream Olajuwon every Summer in Birmingham. These camps attract worldwide participants and coaches who descend upon the city for what is now one of the UK's biggest and best camps. Recent off court growth has enabled our back office to expand as the organisation evolves and provides high quality basketball and social provision for our members and those accessing our services.
