Charlottesville, Virginia is an independent city with a population of approximately 45,000. Located in Central Virginia, Charlottesville sits in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, approximately 100 miles southwest of Washington, D.C., and 70 miles northwest of Richmond, Virginia. Administrative and executive duties are performed by the City Manager.
