The City of Green River is located in the southwestern corner of Wyoming, and serves as the county-seat to Sweetwater County. Throughout the year, there are numerous amenities to entertain people including art shows, festivals, and community events such as Art on the Green and Flaming Gorge Days. Residents share a love for the outdoors and enjoy an array of outdoor sports including unlimited hiking, biking along the river, camping opportunities, hunting, and some of the best trout fishing in the country, as well as kayaking, boating, and jet skiing at the Flaming Gorge Reservoir. The City is operated under the Council-Administrator form of government with an elected Mayor and six elected Council Members. Green River is divided into three wards, with two Council Members representing each ward. The City Administrator is responsible for implementing the Council’s policies and managing the City’s day-to-day operations. Residents of Green River are civic-minded and engaged in their community and in their local government.
