A Bay Area premier community, Novato is located in Marin County 29 miles north of San Francisco. The second largest city in the County, Novato has a current population of 52,000 and covers 28 square miles. Novato’s geography is stunning with breathtaking views of the San Francisco Bay and the oak-studded mountain of Mount Burdell, permanent open space (30% of the city), protected hillsides, numerous creeks and waterways. Fire protection and paramedic services are provided by the Novato Fire Protection District. Other services, such as water distribution and waste management, are provided by special districts. The City’s organizational culture is friendly, service-oriented, and fast-paced. Our collegial and friendly work environment ensures that information is shared in order to creatively and collaboratively respond to and solve issues facing our community. New technology delivers employees with new tools based on an investment of $3 million in process. Alternative work schedules provide life/work balance with many employees enjoying every other Friday off in a 9/80 schedule.
