About CIUS - Centre for Innovative Ultrasound Solutions
Centre for Innovative Ultrasound Solutions for health care, maritime, and oil & gas (CIUS) builds on the Norwegian University of Science and Technology's (NTNU) longstanding tradition in ultrasound (US) research for medical applications and extends this to encompass new research areas within oil, gas and maritime sectors. These sectors have mutual needs and challenges that can be met by new ultrasound technologies. By joining forces and exploiting synergies across disciplines, we will leverage next-generation ultrasound technology. Key ultrasound research tasks are within transducer design, acoustics and image formation, Doppler and deformation imaging, as well as image analysis and visualisation. CIUS aims to be: 1. A world-leading Centre for research and innovation in next-generation ultrasound imaging, improving patient care, harvesting of ocean resources, and for environmental monitoring and safety. 2. Extend and strengthen the innovation culture within ultrasound technologies with emphasis on rapid translation from idea to practical application and solutions needed to facilitate new growth for the industries. 3. The main academic Centre for ultrasound technology to ensure sufficient competence and recruitment needed by Norwegian industries, academia, and the health care sector. CIUS is a Norwegian Research Council appointed centre for research-based innovation (SFI) and represents an 8 year research and innovation program with approximately 450 Mill. NOK in funding. This innovation program is a collaboration effort between 19 partners; 11 industry partners and 8 public partners from academia and the health care sector. See more details on our home pages. The centre is located to The Department of Medical Imaging and Circulation, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, at The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway.
