About CJC Labs

Lab scale anaerobic digestion (AD) specialists, providing equipment for batch and semi-continuous testing of AD and biogas systems including Biochemical Methane Potential (BMP) and Residual Biogas Potential (RBP) testing. CJC Labs was founded by Prof Charles Banks (Professor Charles Banks, Engineering, University of Southampton) who has been involved in leading-edge development and optimisation of a number of key environmental biotechnologies, including anaerobic digestion. A key objective in setting up the business was to make some of the equipment developed and successfully used in his research labs available to the wider community of academic and commercial laboratories. From July 2024 onwards, marketing and sales is through CJC Labs' new director Dr Mark Walker. Prof Banks is retiring but will continue to be active in the development of products and providing ongoing operational know-how to future manufacturing and supply, which are now in the hands of Mark. The academic pedigree and research inspired development will, of course, continue as Mark gained his PhD with Prof Banks between 2006-9. Since then close links have been maintained through partnership in several high profile biogas projects and academic/industrial inspired research networks. The company continues to move forward through a process of constant re-design and improvement of these tried and tested pieces of equipment to produce user-friendly, robust, accurate and reliable products which meet the research and quality assurance needs of our customers. We use state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques and precision engineering, working with some of the best experts in the business to help us develop the designs and have written custom software to complement the equipment in both commercial and research environments.
