About CleanApps.org
CleanApps.org is a non-profit trade organization taking a unique approach to creating a consumer-friendly internet. Our bottom-up approach focuses on businesses and developers that interact directly with consumers under their own brands. These brands have the most impact on consumers and can effect change faster than any regulatory body. CleanApps.org is therefore growing a community of like-minded internet based businesses to collaborate and accelerate the adoption of best-practices that are respect consumers and create a fair marketplace at the same time. We facilitate collaboration and accelerate adoption within this group of internet businesses by: 1. Educating the community on how to implement consumer-friendly practices. a. One example includes providing access to regulators that impact internet businesses. Regulators include: i. Security companies. The traditional gatekeepers of the internet. ii. Technology platforms: Microsoft, Google iii. Ad platforms: Google, Bing, Yahoo/Oath, other ad exchanges. iv. Government: FTC, FCC, EU/GDPR… v. Consumer advocacy groups:. … b. Another method involves fostering collaboration using data-driven best-practices shared by members with the community. 2. Advocating for the community of internet businesses with regulators. a. Armed with data and the power of the community, CleanApps.org hopes to help regulators facilitate sensible rules and enforcement. Our expected outcomes are as follows: 1. A safer internet for consumers as more businesses follow consumer-friendly best-practices. 2. A fair and profitable marketplace for consumer-friendly businesses as a result of the implicit isolation of internet businesses that do not adhere to consumer-friendly practices.
