Clear Guide evolved along two work stream. Firstly, it was recognised that there was a shortage of appropriately qualified practice educators to mentor social work students. Secondly, a gap in the market for older people who self-fund their social care was identified. The Practice Education stream of the business offers the mentoring and educating of social work students on placement and works closely with local universities and colleges, interviewing prospective social work students, preplacement observations, approving placement portfolios, lecturing and writing post qualifying handbooks. The self-funding stream aims to redress the inequality that surrounds self-funders and their representatives. Clear Guide feels passionate about the most vulnerable people in society. This client group (45% of the population) are often not well informed at the outset about the care options available. Expertise includes; Continuing Health Care, Mental Capacity Assessments, Safeguarding and Adult Protection, deprivation of liberty in the community, hospital process navigation and discharge planning, local authority processes and funding. Clear Guide’s vision is to become the first choice to support those who self-fund their care and synonymous with the provision of first class independent social work and practice education.
