About Climate Alliance Italy

Climate Alliance Italy ETS coordinates in Italy the European network Climate Alliance. The main activity of Climate Alliance Italy is to promote climate protection among local and regional governments and to mainstream local energy and climate policies into the daily functioning of the administrations with the goal of an integrated sustainable local development. The fields of activity are: sustainable development, intelligent energy (local energy production, energy efficiency), transport, waste reduction, communication and dissemination, biodiversity and the cooperation with the indigenous peoples. The transferability of experiences and solutions is one of the central concerns of Climate Alliance. The national coordination together with the European and the Brussels office promote the direct exchange of local administrations in national and international conferences, through newsletters, thematic working groups and one-to-one contacts. Climate Alliance Italy has been involved for may years in research on local energy planning, adaptation to climate change, integrated sustainable development and in the dissemination of cases of excellence and promising strategies. Since January 2010 Climate Alliance Italy is a supporting structure of the Covenant of Mayors and supports its members in responding to the commitments of this initiative. Climate Alliance Italy has been admitted by the Climate Secretariat of the United Nations as an observer to the Conferences of Parties and has participated in most of the past editions with side events and other initiatives.
