About Clintwood JOD
Clintwood JOD is a leading U.S.-based coal mining and production company with operations in eastern Kentucky and southwestern Virginia. Our reserve base of recoverable high volatile A and high volatile B metallurgical-grade coal represents one of the last low-cost contiguous large reserves left in the United States, and is complemented by two separate preparation plants as well as multiple convenient rail, barge and truck transportation options. Quality steel requires high-quality coal, and Clintwood’s product is proven, trusted and ideally suited for the coking facilities of steel producers worldwide. In addition, we sell carbon to the industrial market, including active carbon and ferroalloy producers, for use in water purification, activated carbon and filter systems, and also produce byproduct thermal coal servicing the U.S. electrical power grid. Where many coal companies are only able to participate in one or two end markets, our multiple permitted surface mines and deep mines allow us to serve as a dependable, low-cost producer of premium coals in a variety of marketplaces and economic and industrial cycles.
