Thankfully technology and systems provide many of the answers to these problems and in recent years the number of systems aimed specifically at small businesses has increased exponentially. Our favourite is the online accounting system Xero, which was one of the first to be ready for MTD, although we're happy to work with other systems such as Sage and FreeAgent. It's not just about being compliant though, efficiency gains from systems like Xero can make a real difference to you and your business - since adopting Xero ourselves we have saved many hours every month, time we can now spend advising clients!
