The establishment of CNPC R&D at the heart of Dubai, a dynamic metropolitan city in the Middle East, is making this goal to be achieved sooner. In the early days, the Company is providing technical services such as oilfield development plan studies, reservoir performance analysis, well pattern optimization, water flooding studies, and other consultancies required by the oilfield development operations mostly in Iraq, Oman, and Abu Dhabi of UAE, with its main clients being subsidiaries of CNPC and joint ventures where CNPC’s subsidiary is a partner. CNPC, through its various subsidiaries, has been in development and production operations in dozens of oilfields in the Middle East region. The petroleum contracts mostly last for 20-30 years. CNPC R&D is going to provide technical support to these operations for many years to come, and meanwhile will gradually provide services to other oil companies, both NOCs and IOCs with upstream oil and gas projects in this region and beyond.
