About Coast FM

Local radio for West Cornwall broadcasting on 96.5 and 97.2 FM and is available online via mobile, computer or tablet through our app. Coast FM was launched in 2016 and grew out of Penwith Radio, which was started in 2005. The station was developed with the help of community groups including the Penwith Older People’s Forum, youth organisations and the former Penwith District Council. It is a social company with a board of directors led by chairperson, Alan Shepherd. The team includes presenters who have worked and trained with the BBC, Classic FM and hospital radio, with experienced broadcast journalists, actors and writers. The station is also supported by a team of volunteers with media skills including presenting, editing, recording, office management, technical development, programme-making and journalism. It has a wide range of output covering community issues, arts and specialist music programmes. The station is committed to all aspects of social inclusion and environmental sustainability. Coast FM aims to encourage the personal and professional development of its team members and to respond to the concerns of people in the West Cornwall area. The station is a founder member of the Cornwall Community Radio Network and through this and other organisations, maintains links across the Duchy.
