About CoLabs Australia
CoLabs is a transdisciplinary innovation space and co-working lab. We turbocharge translational research and impact-oriented innovation to help catalyse the transition towards a more circular, bio-based and regenerative economy. We were born from a desire to support planet-positive and impact-oriented initiatives related to research, education and innovation. We do this by providing access to enabling technology, community and other capacity-building infrastructure. Space and equipment are available under one roof via a simple ‘product service system’ membership model. In addition, essential business services – such as marketing, branding, website development, and business strategy – are available. This service is one of a kind in Australia, creating a unique ecological niche in the current innovation ecosystem. As an aspiring regenerative enterprise, Co-Labs Melbourne pro-actively grows and cultivates the foundational pools of social, cultural, and living capital. By actively increasing the biotech startup ecosystem and providing hands-on education for schools and the public via our two STEM charities, Co-Labs will support Australia in developing, attracting and retaining top talent. Thus creating jobs, driving economic growth and fostering a culture of technological innovation, entrepreneurship and risk-taking across new and emerging biologically-based industries. By harnessing the power of co-location, our unique service offering provides a collaborative advantage whereby the whole is worth more than the sum of its parts. By creating a particle accelerator for ideas and knowledge transfer, Co-Labs Melbourne can facilitate systems innovation to generate social, economic and environmental outcomes that will benefit the health and well-being of people and the planet.
