Custom Fine Handcrafted Furniture from a master craftsman whose work has been featured in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The New York TImes, Architectural Digest and many other national publications. Peter and Marcie Maynard have been designing and crafting fine handmade furniture for the past 35 years. Their Cold River Furniture line references the principles of the Arts & Crafts Movement to search for an indelibly American furniture style inspired by the great North American landscape. Their Classic Fine Furniture line shows a broad range of classical furniture styles. Custom work our speciality In earlier years while making fine furniture in a broad range of classical styles, the Maynards were drawn to the holistic simplicity depicted in the virgin landscape paintings of 1830's artists Karl Bodmer and George Catlin. The Maynards are now using their impressions from those artist's work to guide them in their Cold River Furniture designs. Their furniture is made from the highest quality materials and crafted with great attention to detail. Among their favorite activities are finding and procuring prime saw logs from local forests, log-yards and farms, sawing them into premium "flitch-matched" lumber, carefully drying that lumber and then making a piece of furniture of undeniable beauty. Peter recently stated. "I look for meaning in our modern world through pursuing the craft ,selectively transforming the hardwoods of our magnificent American forests into the finest of handcrafted furniture. I want to bring a sense of awe for the natural world and try through craft to make it resonate in our day-to-day lives."
