Vision: Our vision is to lead a future where Black and Latinx innovators are pioneering advancements in technology. ColorStack at Northeastern University is dedicated to addressing the significant underrepresentation of students who identify as Black, Latinx, or Native American within the computer science (CS) discipline at Northeastern University. Currently, Black individuals constitute 13% of the overall workforce yet represent a mere 4% within the tech sector. Similarly, Hispanic individuals account for 17% of the workforce but only secure 8% of STEM-related positions. This disparity is mirrored within the largest tech corporations and extends across not just Northeastern University but also numerous other educational institutions nationwide. ColorStack at Northeastern University commits to rectifying this disparity by: - Establishing a supportive community for students of color in computer science to advance their academic and career ambitions in the tech field. - Providing the necessary resources and fostering an environment conducive to their perseverance and success within the computer science major. - Utilizing ColorStack’s extensive network of industry connections and recruitment professionals to optimally position our students for successful careers in the rapidly evolving tech industry.
