Originally called the Harrison Marching Society, the group was formed to help elect Benjamin Harrison as the 23rd President of the United States. After the election, the group decided to secure a clubhouse and increase their membership, renaming themselves the "Columbia Club" after the popular patriotic synonym for the United States. Over the years, the Columbia Club has hosted many distinguished visitors, including Presidents Roosevelt, Eisenhower, and both Bushes, as well as Charles Lindbergh and Queen Marie of Romania. In 2012, the Club was selected as a Platinum Club of America, making it one of the top 35 city Clubs in the nation. The current clubhouse, the Club's third home, is a 10-story architectural showpiece located on Monument Circle that was dedicated in 1925. Today, the Columbia Club offers its members world-class dining, networking opportunities, a health and wellness center, and a variety of special interest Clubs and events.
