About Columbia Energy Association

The Columbia Energy Association (CEA) is a student-led organization dedicated to advancing career opportunities and building a strong professional network for students and alumni in the energy sector. Founded at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), CEA welcomes students from across the broader Columbia community who are passionate about shaping the future of energy. CEA organizes a wide range of energy-focused programming across three core areas: on-campus events, off-campus experiences, and social gatherings. On campus, CEA hosts the flagship annual Energy Symposium, along with expert panels, company presentations, and Lunch & Learns that bring energy professionals directly to students. Off-campus, we offer hands-on experiences through site visits to power plants and energy firms, as well as regional energy treks to major hubs such as Boston, San Francisco, and New York City, giving students real-world exposure to the sector. To engage with our energy community, we also host social events such as the annual Alumni Gala, networking happy hours and other gatherings that connect students, alumni, and industry professionals. CEA’s diverse membership brings a variety of professional backgrounds to the organization. Our student members are enrolled in a number of Columbia University programs and SIPA concentrations, including energy, finance, environmental policy, development, sustainability, and security.
