Mission: Com-Span Inc. provides inclusive day programming for adults living with disabilities. Our programs offer meaningful opportunities for recreational participation, community engagement, and social connection—supported by a dedicated team of professional and para-professional staff, on-site nursing care, and adaptive equipment to promote mobility, communication, and daily living skills. Vision: We envision a future where all individuals enjoy life as valued and equal members of their communities. History: Com-Span Inc. was founded on the belief that people with disabilities deserve to live fulfilling lives within their communities. Our story began in the 1960s when families in Manitoba sought alternatives to institutional care for their children with developmental disabilities. Pioneers like the Boden family launched small home-based programs, planting the seeds of what would become Com-Span. Originally known as "New Horizons," our program began in 1962 and transitioned to “Com-Span Inc.” in 1974. The name reflects our goal of “spanning the community” by bridging individuals with complex needs to meaningful community involvement. Since then, we’ve expanded services, relocated multiple times, and grown to support up to 50 individuals from our current location at 66 Moore Avenue, Winnipeg. Today: Com-Span continues to evolve, integrating assistive technologies and clinical supports while remaining grounded in the belief that everyone deserves dignity, inclusion, and the chance to thrive. We are proud to support a diverse group of individuals in leading enriching and connected lives.
