About Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company ®
Commonwealth is the very first Incorporated Title Insurance Company providing Title Insurance, Escrow Services, and National Commercial Services since 1876. In 1876, a group of conveyancers met in a small office in Pennsylvania to incorporate one of the world’s first title insurance companies, The Real Estate Title Insurance Company of Philadelphia. Later that same year, they issued the first modern title insurance policy and with it an industry was born. We know the company today as Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company. In 1998 Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company joined with Lawyers Title Insurance Company and Transnation Title Insurance Company to become LandAmerica Financial Group, Inc. Since 2008 Commonwealth is a member of the Fidelity National Financial, Inc. (NYSE: FNF, www.fnf.com) family of title companies comprising Alamo Title Company (www.alamotitle.com) , Chicago Title Insurance Company (www.ctic.com), Commonwealth Land Title Company (www.cltic.com), Fidelity National Title Insurance Company (www.fntic.com), Heritage Title Company (www.heritagetco.com), Lawyers Title Insurance Company (www.ltic.com), Security Title Agency (www.securitytitle.com), and Ticor Title (www.ticortitle.com) which collectively represent the largest title insurance and escrow services company in the world.
