About Communities In Schools of Puyallup
Our mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. Nearly one in four students fails to graduate on time in Washington. Communities In Schools of Puyallup offers a solution to the dropout problem. In partnership with public schools facing the greatest dropout challenges, Communities In Schools of Puyallup brings resources and volunteers into the school to provide early interventions for students at risk of dropping out later in life. Many of the young people we serve are facing challenges both inside and outside the classroom. What sets Communities In Schools of Puyallup apart is the way we coordinate a comprehensive range of services to support all the needs of these students—academic and non-academic—so they come to school ready to learn. We provide assistance with basic needs, attendance, academics, and behavior. But most importantly, we offer students access to a caring adult, because students succeed in school and in life when they have a relationship with a trusted adult. Every child has tremendous potential. We help students unlock their abilities and talents, giving them a healthy start and a healthy future. We are currently providing full time Site Coordination in 6 elementary schools in the Puyallup School District: Firgrove Elementary.
