They may come from under-resourced homes; lack positive role models; and struggle with missed school days, behavior issues, and poor grades. CIS of Wake County builds one-on-one relationships with these students to make sure that all basic needs are met, including a trusted adult role model and personal advocate. With needs met, our students grow in capability and accountability towards realizing their full potential in school and life. Since 1990, CIS of Wake County has partnered with Wake County Public School System to empower at-risk students to stay in school and on a path to a brighter future. We believe that relationships, not programs, change lives. We connect students who are burdened by unmet basic needs to caring adults who deliver resources to meet their specific, individual needs. Our staff is located inside schools to be present and accessible on a daily basis to do whatever it takes to make sure that our students have what they need to realize their potential.
