About Community Boat Building

Community Boat Building is a non-profit organization whose mission is to serve Boston’s low-income students by bringing together real world experience and academic skills to build not only a boat, but also excitement for learning. Our programs help underserved students connect what is learned in the classroom with a tangible project, making learning real and relevant. The skills they develop have a transformative impact and are transferable to school, future employment, and throughout life. By taking students out of their classroom and offering them opportunities to engage in hands-on learning, their world becomes bigger and their learning comes alive.
