About Community Farm

I have a dream to change our broken food system. My idea is to build a Community of people that grow and TRADE their own food That’s right, money doesn’t exist in Community Farm. Instead, I trade my potatoes for Sandra’s carrots… And Waqar trades his spinach for Lucinda’s rhubarb….You get the idea Why? We have a scary over-reliance on big corporations feeding us, you only have to look at the last couple of years to see that we need to take back control of our own food security And on top of that, the food we are being given is sucked dry of all the nutrients and goodness that fruit and veg is known for due to the uses of fertilisers, pesticides and herbicides Because of this, we have no idea what real lettuce, spinach or tomatoes tastes like So why aren’t we all growing our own food? In my opinion, there’s two main reasons… A lack of time and a lack of space But what if I took my small space and combined it with everyone else’s small spaces? Well, then we’d have a pretty big space… My proposal is that you take your small space and grow a lot of one or two things, and then trade them for the things you don’t have Every effort to localise food helps displace our reliance on disruptive industrial agriculture, which in turn will help to regenerate our soils and draw down carbon from the atmosphere Amazingly, enough healthy soil could offset virtually all the greenhouse gases on the planet - saving us from the brink of global warming disaster I'm going to be building a meaningful Community of people that learn to grow their own food with Permaculture principles and trade it with others in their Community. ...To do this I'm going to be applying for funding to build a digital platform where all this can take place!
