About Community Finance
Community finance is not new. It is the oldest form of banking, predating commercial finance by millennia. But our exclusionary credit system does not recognize it, and we can fix that. Financial exclusion is a systems problem that can be solved by investing directly in the solutions of the communities closest to it. We are reimagining a financial system where the way people show creditworthiness in social networks will be surfaced and leveraged into the mainstream financial system, qualifying borrowers for high-quality, low-interest, wealth-building mainstream credit products like mortgages and business loans. People should have true financial citizenship—access to the resources they need, agency over their lives, opportunities to co-create loan terms, and recognition for the solutions they innovate. We believe people should not have to choose between caring for their communities and securing their financial futures.
