About Community Housing Canada
Community Housing Canada is a research partnership dedicated to increasing the capacity and sustainability of non-market housing. The community housing sector in Canada is made up of 655,000 units, owned by provincial and municipal governments, non-profit organizations, and housing cooperatives. It plays a vital role in meeting the housing needs of low- and moderate-income households by providing safe, secure and affordable rental housing. We are working with the sector to increase the supply of community housing in Canada, and to support its efforts to address housing vulnerability, enhance social inclusion, and improve environmental performance. We also contribute to the training and development of Canada’s housing workforce. Our partnership is part of the Collaborative Housing Research Network, a joint initiative funded by CMHC and SSHRC.
