About Community Land Trust Association of West Marin (CLAM)
The mission of the Community Land Trust of West Marin (CLAM) is to provide stable and permanently affordable homes in an environmentally responsible way in the communities surrounding Tomales Bay in Marin County, CA. As a community land trust, CLAM takes land and housing out of the speculative real estate market and holds it “in trust” to serve as a long-term community asset for housing people. In historically segregated Marin, with one of the most expensive housing markets in the country, CLAM works to advance racial and economic equity by enabling families to purchase and rent homes affordably, whereby preventing displacement and empowering families and individuals to advance economically and thrive within their communities. CLAM creates and stewards stable and permanently affordable homes in an environmentally responsible way in the communities surrounding Tomales Bay. Our work crosses issues of economic equity, racial justice, issues related to aging and seniors, affordable housing, and environmental sustainability. By creating stable and affordable places for people to live, we enable individuals and families to build wealth, contribute to their community, reduce carbon emissions (by decreasing commutes for local workers), and reduce stress and other negative health outcomes related to unstable or unsuitable housing.
