About Community Power Coalition of New Hampshire
The Community Power Coalition of New Hampshire (CPCNH) is a nonprofit Joint Powers Agency—governed by communities, for communities—dedicated to delivering reliable, affordable, and clean energy to cities, towns, and counties across New Hampshire. Incorporated in 2021, CPCNH enables its members to launch and operate Community Power Aggregation (CPA) programs through a shared services model that reduces costs, expands local energy options, and increases collective influence in policy and regulatory arenas. Today, the Coalition includes 60+ municipalities and 4 counties, representing over a third of New Hampshire’s population. CPCNH launched its first default service programs in April 2023. In less than two years, it has become the second largest electricity supplier in the state, serving more customers than two of the three investor-owned utilities. Member programs have collectively generated over $14 million in customer savings in their first year while building financial reserves to ensure long-term rate stability. Through CPCNH, member communities benefit from: - Pooled energy procurement and rate-setting flexibility - Local governance over energy supply and program design - Development of clean energy projects and distributed energy programs - Coordinated public engagement, education, and advocacy Our mission is to foster resilient New Hampshire communities by empowering them to realize their energy goals—through collaboration, innovation, and local leadership.
