About Community Regional Charter School
COMMUNITY REGIONAL CHARTER SCHOOL is a free, public pre-K-12 charter school based out of Skowhegan, Maine, United States with campuses in Skowhegan and Cornville. Formerly known as Cornville Regional Charter School, we were the first elementary charter school approved by the State of Maine in 2012 and opened with only 60 learners. Today CRCS serves over 300 learners in grades Pre-K to 12 from over 11 surrounding communities. Over the last several years we have quickly become a vibrant active school through the spirit of community, volunteerism, and an amazing staff. We have three multi-age academies and employ over 50 full-time employees. Our learner experience centers around developing four core values: compassion, character, creative courage, and cultivating excellence. Through design thinking, project-based learning, meaningful technology integration, mass customized learning, and emerging progressive pedagogies, we work daily to maximize opportunities for learners and eliminate barriers to their success. We believe that it is not enough to just excel at academics; emphasis must also include the holistic development of our learners. In order to do this, we provide a wide range of learning opportunities with choice and voice embedded as often as possible. We offer electives which are taught by local community members, parents, and staff. These activities promote healthy learning and self-awareness, develop talents and allow the children to explore new interests. All learners have the opportunity to choose from a multitude of activities and vary based on interest and needs.
