About Compass Presents

Compass Presents are based in Bristol and resident at the Pervasive Media Studio, a centre leading research, development and explorations in experience design and creative technology. We create immersive environments, enhanced screenings, and interactive encounters. Mixing film, visual art, digital content, music and performance, we use a multidisciplinary approach to present art from new perspectives. A not-for-profit Community Interest Company, Compass have been delivering events within the creative and performing arts since 2006. Recent work includes interactive performance and installation commissions for a range of immersive arts events (Glastonbury, Boomtown Fair, Larmer Tree, Symmetry, and Shambala Festivals); we provided mentoring, consultancy and co-delivery for Watershed’s and BFI’s immersive theatrical screening of The Shining, more recently collaborating in BFI’s Sci-Fi Season, presented by Mark Kermode. The Caligari Experience is an expanded cinema performance and Compass Presents’ most recent large scale project, which in November 2015 won a Media Innovation Award in the category of Live Events. As well as working with a range of dedicated venues in the South West (Arnolfini, Watershed, Eden Project) Compass often seek out ‘found’ spaces in an effort to programme in less traditional performance environments and reach wider audiences (Motion Skate Park; Mivart Studios; The Old Coroner’s Court). Key to our ethos is a commitment to reaching new audiences through a multidisciplinary approach.
