About Compass Training and Mentoring Program

Compass is a comprehensive remote training and mentoring program designed for early-career faculty and postdoctoral researchers across various disciplines. We aim to develop essential leadership and management skills in those who plan to lead a lab and/or research team. Compass Scholars will have the opportunity to reflect on their values and priorities, refining their vision of career success. Through Compass, scholars will gain valuable knowledge, skills, and tools to identify innovative and effective approaches to their work, fostering achievement and fulfillment as scientists. Compass offers two intensive tracks to meet the unique needs of researchers at different career stages: a 10-week faculty track and a 6-week postdoc track. Scholars will meet with their assigned peer mentoring team (PMT) to work through cases and discuss real-world issues they face as well as develop personalized materials that can be implemented in their labs or research groups. Scholars will also receive live group coaching and/or attend interactive Fireside Chats with experienced mentors to gain practical knowledge, guidance, and advice on issues that arise at various stages in a researcher’s career.
