About Concordis International
Concordis International is a peacebuilding charity. We work hand in hand with communities, helping them find workable solutions that address the root causes of conflict and contribute to lasting peace and economic development. We are committed to finding sustainable solutions that benefit all those who live where conflict is fought and felt: women and youth, as well as men; local administrative authorities, community leaders and civil society; those who choose to take up arms and those who don't. We have programmes in the Central African Republic, Darfur, and the contested territory of Abyei. At its inception, the organization (as NPI) established confidential dialogue that contributed to the peaceful ending of South African apartheid, and subsequently in Rwanda, developing consensus among senior Tutsis and Hutus on agricultural recovery and post-conflict justice and reconciliation. We have recently completed a significant programme in Mauritania where we facilitated dialogues to resolve land disputes, through training local mediators and building the capacities of civil society We work by: 1. Conducting thorough conflict analysis before, during, and after interventions to inform unique project design based on insights into conflict dynamics. 2. Facilitating dialogue based on building trust and confidence among conflicting groups, creating a shared vision for the future, and laying the foundations for peace through relationship. 3. Building resilience by equipping local people with the skills needed for peacebuilding, advocating recommendations to policymakers, and sharing lessons learned to ensure peace lasts beyond our interventions. More broadly, we actively cooperate with others active in security, peacebuilding and development, for example through the Alliance for Peacebuilding, EPLO and other forums and by contributing to the development of peacebuilding practice.
