About Confer - Innovative CPD for psychotherapists, psychologists, counsellors & mental health workers
CONFER is an independent organisation established by psychotherapists in 1998 to provide innovative, challenging and inspiring continuing educational for psychotherapists, psychologists and other mental health workers. Our publishing began in 2020, shortly after Confer Ltd. acquired Karnac, which had existed as a specialist bookshop and publisher for psychotherapy and psychoanalysis since the1950’s. We identified an opportunity to expand the work of Confer through book publishing, combining the inclusivity and creativity of the events side of the business with Karnac’s specialist publishing for a new generation of readers in the field of psychotherapy and related branches of mental health. Acquired by Confer in 2020, the Karnac Bookshop is an international destination bookshop dedicated to psychoanalysis, psychotherapy, and related subjects such as organizations, family, child, and adolescent studies.
