OUR HISTORY My name is Dapo Odumeru . I am the founder of Conor Mac Foundation, in memory of my brother and friend Conor John McKenna, who passed away on the 6th of April 2023. I first met Conor in 1984 on the rugby pitch of Clongowes Wood during a training exercise. The following year, fate made sure we ended up at the same University in Galway Ireland. My wonderful parents lived in Nigeria and had send me to study in Ireland . After few years in Galway, the economy of Nigeria took a downturn and was not going to continue my education in Galway. I mentioned this to Conor in passing, he spoke to his parents and they stepped in to ensure I continued my education. They became my family throughout my stay in Ireland and gave me the foundation and loving environment I needed to fulfil my destiny. Conor was my destiny helper. Few weeks after hearing the news of Conor’s death, I received a request from a lady I have never met in my life. She pleaded with me to support her with her daughter's University’s fee in Nigeria. After a due diligence research to ensure the case was genuine, I paid the university fee on the 4th May 2023 one day after my brother was laid to rest. It then dawned on me that the legacy Conor had left in my life should live on through this foundation OUR MISSION Conor Mac foundation is a non profit organisation that supports University students from low-income countries whose education has been compromised or put at risk and are not able to progress with their studies. We aim to raise and provide financial assistance to support payment of university/higher institution fees of student, who on account of a change in personal circumstances (e.g., the debilitating illness or death of a parent/guardian) find themselves unable to continue to meet their financial commitments to their education
