About Conservation Planning Specialist Group
CPSG is a Specialist Group of the International Union for Conservation of Nature Species Survival Commission (IUCN SSC) supported by a non-profit organization, the Global Conservation Network. CPSG’s mission is to save threatened species by increasing the effectiveness of conservation efforts worldwide. For over 40 years, we’ve accomplished this by using scientifically sound, collaborative processes that bring together people with diverse perspectives and knowledge to catalyse positive conservation change. We provide species conservation planning expertise to governments, Specialist Groups, zoos and aquariums, and other wildlife organizations. We support an integrated approach to species conservation planning through the joint development of management strategies and conservation actions by all responsible parties, known as the One Plan Approach. We strive to ensure that a broad range of stakeholders is represented at each workshop. As a result, one comprehensive conservation plan for the species helps bridge the gap between wild and captive population management. CPSG offers tools and processes that address commonly encountered conservation planning needs, and help to get species in need on the road to recovery. Visit out website to see what workshops, training and webinars we offer!
